This whole world’s wild at heart and weird on top.

“All my movies are about strange worlds that you can’t go into unless you build them and film them. That’s what’s so important about film to me. I just like going into strange worlds.”
Happy 70th, David Lynch!
“Too bad he couldn’t visit that old Wizard of Oz, and get some good advice.”

Leia, I’m sorry. I know. I know you are. I’m just glad you’re here… at the end.

As some of you know (but most of you do not), I was diagnosed with a benign pituitary tumor in April. While these tumors are by no means life-threatening, they can wreak havoc on the body by secreting extra hormones, impeding the normal functioning of the pituitary gland — or “master gland” — and disrupting the delicate balance that is the endocrine system. Over time, they can also grow too large, invade the sinuses, press on the brain, and compress the optic nerve enough to cause blindness.
While it’s bizarre to think that I have a tumor at the base of my brain, it’s comforting to know that something is being done about it. It’s currently only 7x5mm (a bit smaller than the pituitary gland itself) and my doctor and I decided that the best course of action is to attempt to shrink it and get everything back in balance by treating it with a medication for one year. The medication has known side effects of dizziness and nausea, but with three doses down (plus only having to take it twice a week), I’ve had absolutely no negative side effects. If the medication doesn’t work, it’ll just be yearly brain MRIs and someday, a type of endoscopic neurosurgery before the tumor grows too large.
So, the moral of this story is to not let weird symptoms go unchecked — always speak up and try to get to the root of the problem. Positive vibes would be much appreciated! Also — shout out to the most amazing partner in the world, @elmaurygee for always being there for me! 🙌🏻✨ #pituitarytumor #cabergoline
